Mentor/Mentee FAQ - My Mentor/Mentee Isn't Responding to Me, What Should I Do?

It can be frustrating when you don't receive a response from your mentor or mentee. In most cases, they may simply be busy or have missed your message. Here are some steps you can take.

 What To Do If You Haven't Received a Response

1. Send a Friendly Follow-Up Message

Your mentor or mentee may have overlooked your original message or not had a chance to respond yet. Sending a polite follow-up message is often the best first step and can help prompt a response.

2. Contact Your Programme Administrator

If you still haven't heard back after following up, reach out to your programme or local administrator. They may be able to:

  • Offer guidance on the next steps
  • Help facilitate communication
  • Confirm whether your mentor or mentee is still participating in the programme
  • Assist with finding an alternative match if appropriate

A Few Things to Bear in Mind

  • People may be away from work, on annual leave or dealing with other commitments.
  • Allow a reasonable amount of time for a response before following up.
  • Keeping messages friendly and professional can help encourage engagement.
