Mentor/Mentee FAQ - Can I Change My Mind About Being a Mentor or Mentee?

Learn how to update your mentoring preferences if you'd like to become a mentor, a mentee, or both.

Can I change my mind about being a mentor or mentee?

Yes. You can update your mentoring preferences at any time through the Preferences section of your PushFar account.

Whether you'd like to:

  • Become a mentor
  • Become a mentee
  • Be both a mentor and a mentee

You can manage these settings by visiting the Preferences section on the left-hand side of your home page.

For detailed instructions, see our guide on Managing Your Preferences.

Things to Consider Before Making Changes

If you are participating as part of an organisation's mentoring programme, we recommend checking with your programme administrator before changing your mentoring preferences, as some programmes may have specific requirements or guidelines.

If you already have active mentoring relationships, it's also good practice to communicate any changes with your mentor(s) or mentee(s) to help manage expectations and maintain effective mentoring relationships.

Why Might I Want to Change My Preferences?

There are many reasons why you may wish to update your mentoring preferences, including:

  • You've gained experience and would now like to mentor others.
  • Your development goals have changed, and you'd like support from a mentor.
  • You'd like to both receive mentoring and support others as a mentor.
  • Your circumstances or availability have changed since you first registered.

Need Help?

If you're unsure whether you should be a mentor, a mentee, or both, we recommend speaking with your Programme Administrator. They can provide guidance on your organisation's mentoring programme and any specific requirements that may apply.
